Virtual CD and Sony CD Architect

It is not quite clear to my mind what you've done to get this error message. Did you use the virtual burner? Please describe the exact procedure to reproduce the problem.

Many thanks in advance!

Virtual CD and Sony CD Architect

Hello,
in Sony CD Architect (Ver. 5.2) I did compile a new Audio CD made out of 13 tracks, hit the BURN button, selected the Virtual Burner, went into the VCD Menu, chosed "Neuen CD Rohling (700MB) erzeugen und einlegen", swichted back to Sony CDA -the Empty CD-R 700MB was recognised- and finally hit the OK (Record Button). Settings: Burnproof = off, Testburn = off
The small record progress window appeared for a split second (counted to ~5%) than the error message window poped up. I am pretty sure it was still during the TOC generation process. CDA has three phases: Phase 1: it creates the TOC (I guess counts from 0-100%, fast ~10secs with a physical burner), Phase 2: the actual burn phase, Phase 3: finalization
The VCD burn process stopped during phase 1 or right at the end, don't know to fast. The "Details" Button in the error popup window gave the protocol. I have screenshoots I could mail to you.

Some kind of incompatibility of CDA with VCD. CDA is able to burn "seamless" Audio CDs. Good for Live CDDAs.

Thanks,
Thomas

Sony CD Architect

Hello,
any news on my issue? I checked the system.event.log right after a burn attempt. Her is what it logged:

The device, \Device\CdRom2, has a bad block.

Does Sony CDA try to low level access the CD-R???

Thanks,
Thomas

Testing

Sorry for not answering, yet. I'll have to do some testing on this issue in order to reproduce the problem. I'll report back asap.

Thomas

Disc at once

Hallo Herr Bunge, ich bleibe mal bei Englisch, damit alle Kunden etwas davon haben...

We tested Sony CD Architect Ver. 5.2 with Virtual CD and found out that Sony writes disc-at-once in a quite unusual (but nevertheless allowed) way which causes the crash. This problem may not be fixed until version 9, but I can offer you a version 8 driver for testing. This driver will of course not be certified (as it will have been changed), but it will be the same as the certified one except the support for Sony CD Architect. Please let me know if you're interested in testing a new driver and I'll provide it as soon as it is available!

Sony CDA

Hello,
thank you for your support. Yes, I am interested in testing the special driver. I will provide input on compatibility.
You can send it to my eMail address.

I really appreciate the way you take care about your costumer.

Sony CDA

Hello,
and thanks for the driver. Yes, works like a charm. Just burned my first 4 Track CDDA. Will do more testing soon. For the time being you can assume: Problem Solved.

Thanks,
Thomas

Driver download

Thank you for the feedback! I now wrote a corresponding KB article which provides the enhanced driver:
